We finally crossed the border and got to see the Big Beautiful Border Wall up close for the first time. These sumptuous beautifully grilled and super tasty mid-size long and spiny lobsters that we had heard so much about did not disappoint. It was the most succulent tasting event not experienced in VietNam Maine nor else where. Only 1 hour and 25 minutes south from our home but the feel of the energy here in La Fonda is very different. The relentless roar of the ocean here is like the blasting celebratory wall of sounds from a Mariachi band that can be heard all over town full of chaotic random life-filled energy. It’s not the same calm orderly ocean sounds of La Jolla shore energy that I have become more intimately familiar of this summer. No I don’t think I will be swimming here. Not today. The beach seemed to end but deceptively if you are willing to climb over the high jagged rocks the rest of the coast line emerged. I said hi to a passing couple and at the 2 mile mark as I was turning back the same couple was right behind me. Time to head back heh? The man friendly commented. I smiled and said how happy my life has led me to this beach. He was happy to learn that I am Vietnamese as he was born in Indonesia to an American missionary parents and educated in Đà Lạt a beautiful hill city in South VietNam and one of my favorite. Now his home of 13 years along with other American even NYC expats are now beautifully perched next to the beach. After a long chat realizing how much we have in common same age et al we parted and promised to see each other again. As I walked back I marveled at my coastal life now just like how I recently ran into a band of dolphins buzzing back and forth right above my head as I was a mile out from Là Jolla shore. We will spend another day here visiting the vineyard and need to figure out how to head back early on Monday for Oliver to do his homework in order to beat the long reentry line back into the Big Beautiful Country. Have a wonderful end of summer and Happy Fall. Dear Friends.
