Frank showed me a Cézanne drawing today that reminded me why I paint in the first place. Cézanne painted because he had too regardless of the time that he lived in and he inspired every painters after to follow his footsteps. The water today was flat and the light was beautiful. I wanted to jump in but had to restraint myself. I swam the fastest last night, and it is only a matter of time before I will be back into the ocean. Doing WC is like doing drills in the pool to prepare for ocean before oil on canvas. Only paint can I make the marks needed to truly express how I feel. How does the Intelligence being know that I was a refugee? I only paint what my body is telling me.
