My first car

I visited my American family before returning to finish my Amherst college senior year. They were moving to Boston and asked me if I wanted their car. I said sure. We went to the garage to pick it up and I said "Wait a minute I don’t know how to drive with the stick shift". They said don’t worry, proceeded to show me via driving around the garage area twice and then said goodbye. I came back to where I parked the car and couldn’t find it. Looking around further and found it in a ditch because I had put it in neutral instead of park. Driving back to Amherst from Albany was a nightmare but I made it.

It was one of many best things that happened to me that year. I became very popular and drove everywhere. Winter came and I was working on my sculpture thesis and I ran out of money to pay all my models: Alex, Steve and Marcella and also no money to renew the car insurance. So the building janitor made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I was able to complete my thesis. In the spring I saw him refurbished it and was driving around Amherst. I had tears in my eyes. But at least I still have my figures (except Alex RIP).
